How To Improve Your Writing

TIPS TO IMPROVE YOUR WRITING

Maybe, you’ve had a desire to take up some kind of writing, no matter for what purpose exactly, just the very fact. However, you find it difficult to get around to setting the ball rolling. There’s also a chance that you are neither into it nor haven’t ever tried to write. Anyway, the understanding that you have to learn the ins and outs of at least drafting writing comes pretty soon – as soon as you start looking for a job.

If you haven’t felt like being a writer from the moment you draw your first breath, you should probably try to learn something about writing as you go along. We’ve gathered some entertaining pieces of advice for you to not get bored and acquire useful knowledge at the same time.

1. Explore the World

A lot of people who are engaged in writing believe that there must be some ideal place and ideal moment to start or to continue writing, something they can suddenly get enthusiastic about.

You don’t necessarily have to do that. On the contrary, try to notice everything that is going on around you, every detail which makes your day, from the moment you come for a morning coffee to your small talk with a stranger in a bus. The objects you notice don’t have to be huge and significant for anyone to know about them. As long as all the new people we meet, all the new things we see and all the events we experience every day are so diverse, there can’t possibly exist the lack of motivation and ideas for a person to write. Tune in to yourself, keep your ears open all the time, because you can’t always produce elements of good writing when you come home, put everything in order and sit in a chair before going to sleep. Sometimes fascinating thoughts hit you on the spur of the moment.

2. Create the Atmosphere

Everyone feels more comfortable during the working process within various conditions. Someone asks, “How do you write in all that mess?” Others love to hear that things are humming while they write themselves. A lot of people choose golden science to start doing something. And there are also those who combine different circumstances and adapt to all of them. Anyway, you should think of the most appropriate atmosphere for you to write.

You may try this as well: as soon as you find your perfect place, go back there in your mind, no matter where you are, to get focused and receive inspiration.

3. Leave the Proofreading for Better Times

You must remember one essential thing about writing without tears. Don’t let yourself dig far down with the aspiration to get the best content, structure and grammar of your writing as you risk to drown in the perfectionistic thoughts which will lead to stress and your losing track of the ideas flow. Your writing doesn’t have to be immaculate from the very start, but you’ll have the opportunity to check it up a bit later.

Your current focus is pure writing. Take the following technique as a rule: give yourself a certain amount of time during which you’ll do nothing but write. Don’t bother with the way it sounds or how coherent your text is, just write about whatever you’re going through at this specific moment, emotionally or intellectually.

When you find yourself feeling the need to discover some facts that are essential to continue the process, just mark it as a ‘to do’ task, but get to it after you finish your stream of consciousness.

4. Pronounce It

One more thing from the list of interesting writing prompts: create an audio file containing your speech related to your writing and then write down what you hear making amendments in the process. Remember how easy it is to notice and identify the mistakes when you hear someone else talking. That’s the whole point. Moreover, the spoken language is closer to what you really think.

It is useful to hear yourself from the side and imagine that you’re the one who listens and makes conclusions, to be certain that all you say is appropriate and sounds good.

5. “I know why I write”

You know that as you practice writing, you get professional at it with time. And if you come down to the point with an expert approach, setting some intelligence to it, there’s a good chance you’ll become a top writer very soon. There are a lot of techniques to develop in this field. You have the means to enrich your vocabulary, get better at writing rules and acquiring additional knowledge on the expressiveness of your language every day. The only thing that is left is to go about work.
